Setting up AbeBooks

Before you enable AbeBooks, you need to create an AbeBooks account and set up FTP order processing.

Specifically, you need to:

  1. Register an AbeBooks bookseller account.
  2. Sign an AbeBooks bookseller agreement.
  3. Set up an AbeBooks FTP account.
  4. Remove your listings (for sellers who currently list on AbeBooks).

Registering an AbeBooks bookseller account

The first step in listing your inventory on AbeBooks is to register a seller account. To register an account, go to the AbeBooks website.

When you register, AbeBooks recommends that you have the following information at hand:

In addition to the information above, AbeBooks now requires that you add a list of specific information to your Account Details under Terms of Service. This requirement is effective June 12, 2014.

For more information about requirements for selling on AbeBooks, see the AbeBooks website.

Signing an AbeBooks bookseller agreement

AbeBooks recommends that you read the AbeBooks Agreement, the AbeBooks Program Guide, the Bookseller Policies and the Payment and Fee Schedule, and then electronically sign them and signify your acceptance and agreement to them by clicking on the [I accept] button at the end of the agreement.

To access the agreement, see the AbeBooks website.

Setting up an AbeBooks FTP account

Monsoon processes AbeBooks orders through a seller's AbeBooks FTP account.

To set up an FTP account, email AbeBooks Seller Support with the following information:

Note:  When you enable AbeBooks in Monsoon Marketplace, it uses slightly different terms than the marketplace for your AbeBooks account details. After you click the Enable Market button in Monsoon Marketplace, enter the following information in the AbeBooks Login dialog box:

Removing existing listings (for sellers who currently list on AbeBooks)

If you currently sell on AbeBooks, you need to remove (purge) your listings before you enable the market.

To use Monsoon Marketplace to remove existing listing at the time that you enable AbeBooks, after you have followed the steps above to register an AbeBooks bookseller account, sign an AbeBooks bookseller agreement, and set up an AbeBooks FTP account, you must delist your items from AbeBooks. For instructions, see To delist inventory from AbeBooks.

You can also remove your listings directly on AbeBooks before you enable the market in Monsoon Marketplace. For instructions, see the AbeBooks website.

After all listings are removed, you can enable AbeBooks in Monsoon Marketplace. For instructions, see To enable AbeBooks and configure market settings in Monsoon Marketplace.
