Processing Multi-Channel Orders and Split-Fulfillments
In a standard Multi-Channel Fulfillment order using Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA), you receive orders from multi-channel markets via Monsoon Marketplace and Amazon fulfills the order. However, if you list a mix of locally-fulfilled and FBA inventory on a multi-channel market, you may receive orders that require a split-fulfillment.
Processing Multi-Channel orders
When you get a multi-channel order that contains only FBA items, the following happens:
- An FBA fulfillable order from the multi-channel market downloads to Monsoon Marketplace.
- Monsoon Marketplace sends a shipment request to FBA.
- Amazon picks, packs, and ships the order from an FBA fulfillment center.
- Amazon sends Monsoon Marketplace a shipment confirmation.
- Monsoon Marketplace automatically sends a shipping confirmation email to your customer. This email includes any shipment tracking information provided by Amazon.
- Monsoon Marketplace automatically notifies the marketplace that the order has been shipped and includes any relevant tracking information provided by Amazon.
Note: An order on eBay for an item listed with Economy Shipping will be passed to FBA using Standard Shipping.
Processing split-fulfillment orders
If you list a mix of locally-fulfilled and FBA inventory on a multi-channel market, you may receive orders that require a split-fulfillment: some items fulfilled by you and others fulfilled by Amazon through FBA. When you receive an order that contains a mix of local and FBA items the following happens:
- A shipment request is sent to Amazon for all of the FBA items in your order and the process follows the steps above.
- On your Orders tab, you will see a new order that contains both the local and FBA items. In this case, you should process the new order as a regular merchant-fulfilled order. (For more information, see Processing orders.)
A determination of whether a multi-channel order should be fulfilled from local or FBA inventory is made at the time the order downloads to Monsoon Marketplace. (This determination is based on whether the SKU (or sub-SKU) is merchant-fulfilled or Amazon-fulfilled.)
