Remote Desktop Services overview
Remote Desktop Services (formerly known as Terminal Services) provides the ability to host multiple, simultaneous remote Monsoon Marketplace sessions on Microsoft Windows Server using Remote Desktop Connection.
Benefits of using Remote Desktop Services include:
- Simplicity—Monsoon Marketplace only needs to be installed on a computer running Windows Server 2012 or Windows Server 2008 R2 with Remote Desktop Services, not on each workstation remotely connecting to the server.
- Multiple platform support—workstations remotely connecting to a computer running Windows Server with Remote Desktop Services do not need to be running Windows.
- Printer sharing—you can print either to a server printer or to a workstation printer.
- Flexibility—you can log on to Monsoon Marketplace using either Remote Desktop Connection or a standard Monsoon Marketplace workstation installation. Example A illustrates a setup using both remote and standard logins. Example B illustrates a setup using Remote Desktop Connection only.
Note Each user who logs on to Monsoon Marketplace, either through a standard workstation installation or through Remote Desktop Connection, must have a unique user name and password.
Microsoft has an extensive library of articles about Remote Desktop Services featuring what it is, how it works, tools, and settings. To learn more about Remote Desktop Services, please see the following resources on the Microsoft website:
